Seventeen patients with unilateral facial palsy for more than a year were treated with botulinum toxin injections to relieve symptoms of facial synkinesis or hyperkinetic movements. Three injections were given at six to eight month intervals, followed by daily half mirror biofeedback rehabilitation for about two years. The rehabilitation was energetically pursued, with patients using the half mirror at home for 30 minutes every day for two years! Enthusiasm produces good results and this study is no exception, both on the part of the medical team and the patients.
