We were delighted to once again catch up with Dr Uliana Gout, this time to focus on her role as Scientific Director with FACE.

Can you tell us a little bit about what led you into the field of aesthetics and what have been the highlights so far?

I’ve always had a passion for pioneering evidence-based medicine and innovation – and aesthetic medicine has proved to be the ideal platform to explore these important areas in view of improving patient safety and efficacy with the wide array of treatment modalities we offer.

What has been the best piece of advice that you have received in your career and what advice would you offer to those following in your footsteps?

Investing time to give back to our community is the best advice I received, and it’s been a constant with my passion for lecturing, research, and writing medical textbooks. Community is a very significant concept for me and hence the array of roles I have taken on over the last decade and more.

What have been the most exciting developments in your field in the last decade?

The exploration of mixing treatments in single sessions and not limiting ourselves to just the ‘visage’ but also blending into the body has been a huge development. And one which has evolved with the backing of scientific data and research, allowing us to further our safety and efficacy parameters.

You are one of the Scientific Directors for FACE. Do you enjoy this role?

Absolutely - FACE Congress is the longest running large scale event in the UK. The heritage and legacy are something we are all proud of and it motivates us to bring new concepts and grow our community!

In 2023 FACE will return to London in June. Can you tell us about the themes and potential highlights of the event?

‘The Psychology of Beauty’ is a concept we are bringing into the limelight in 2023 – a hugely significant area of research around the world. Coupled with that we shall explore the hottest combination treatments, latest global innovations, business growth tips from around the world, alongside our classic educational streams.

And finally, if you have any spare time, how do you like to relax?

I have two mini schnauzers and love long countryside walks! I’m hugely passionate about archaeology, history, and collecting antiques.
