Thinkin, the School of Medical Aesthetics led by Dr. Benjamin Ascher, recently hosted the second edition of the Dubai Class. This hands-on training was specifically designed for physicians and practitioners of all levels who work with HA fillers, toxins and threads.

Dr. Benjamin Ascher and his associate coordinators, Dr. Matthieu Stefanelli and Dr. Peter Velthuis, brought together an exceptional scientific program that incorporated various elements such as anatomy study, live patient demonstrations, hands-on tutorials using simulator injections and practical training in ultrasonography.

The first day commenced with plenary lectures by Dr. Ascher and Dr. Stefanelli, focusing on facial anatomy and important updates on toxins and fillers. Dr. Khaled Othman then presented a lecture on non-facial toxin injections, showcasing the diverse applications of toxins. To conclude the day, Dr. Peter Velthuis shared insightful presentations on ultrasound anatomy, emphasizing the importance of avoiding complications and key clinical considerations for selecting ultrasound devices.

During the second half of Day 1, pre-recorded demonstrations of filler injections and thread treatments were presented by Dr. Massimiliano Leporati, Dr. Shadan Naji and Dr. George Sulamanidze. Additionally, Dr. Velthuis conducted a live demonstration of ultrasound imaging.

On the second day, attendees were divided into small groups and rotated through four hands-on workstations over a six-hour period. This year, the hands-on training utilised a new Facial Injection Simulator, a realistic and safe tool developed by Dr. Benjamin Ascher, Dr. Sergio Escobar and OEO Firenze. The simulator accurately replicates the anatomical layers and structures of the face and neck, allowing trainees to practice injections through a step-by-step process that included vessel and structure mastery, pre-injection facial marking, injection depth assessment and observation of post-injection product deposition. Workstation 3 incorporated the Facial Injection Simulator as well, focusing on thread procedures.

At Workstation 2, attendees witnessed close-up injection demonstrations on a live patient, as Dr. Ruba Bahhady and Dr. Shadan Naji performed treatments on the nose and lips. This session provided a comprehensive view of the treatment process and allowed attendees to ask questions and gain insights from the experts.

Workstation 4 centred on ultrasound techniques and their application to forehead, orbit, nose and lip injections. Attendees used ultrasound devices to practice scanning the anatomy of their colleagues, deepening their understanding of imaging in the context of aesthetic treatments.

The second day concluded with live demonstrations by Dr. Zunaid Ali and Dr. Ruba Bahhady, who showcased the use of fillers, and a live demonstration by Dr. George Sulamanidze who focused on thread treatments. These demonstrations provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to witness the application of the knowledge and techniques they had acquired over the two days.

The THINKIN Dubai Class delivered a comprehensive two-day training program aimed at enhancing attendees' injection techniques, understanding of anatomy and proficiency with ultrasound in aesthetic treatments.
